Like Cat Cafes? Like Tea? Like Catios? Love Cats?

Welcome

to the

Catio Lounge

and

Tea Room

"Our Catio is Your Catio"

A Place to Learn About Catios
Located in Watsonville, California

(Note: this is not a business)

The Catio Lounge and Tea Room is a comfy place, like a mini Cat Cafe where cat lovers can enjoy and explore the catio environment with or without the company of the cats who permanently live in residence. No charge for visiting.

Because of the cozy setting, we can accommodate two visitors at a time. We have two comfortable chairs to sit upon. But, we will be happy to have you visit even if you are by yourself.

Love Cats?

Love Tea
for Two?

This is the Place
for You!

We support the idea of peaceful relaxing harmony through the experience of enjoying the company of cats in their own special and safe play area.

This is especially pleasant when the cat lover does not have the opportunity to have cats in their own home and misses being around them. Perhaps you rent and the landlord doesn't allow pets, or maybe someone in your household is allergic. Here's your opportunity to enjoy being around cats.

However, we cannot always guarantee that all the cats in residence will want to be associated with visitors at first. So you are welcome to visit more than once. As a cat lover, you know that's just the way cats are.

Though, during the beginning of your visit, one or more kitty will likely peek at you through the sliding glass doors that lead into the catio.

Once they realize their catio has only been occupied temporarily with a peaceful cat lover they will come out and greet you once they get over their cautious, "stranger danger" mode.

Some of the catio cats may just be there awaiting you right there, immediately, and curious about you, especially if you shake a feather toy at them. (Feather toy provided.)

Keep in mind that the Catio Lounge and Tea Room was planned by the Cat Mom and built professionally by a licensed contractor. Additional work was done by our Cat Daddy. It is safe for humans and elegant for cats. We provide your access so you can have some ideas for your own plans for building a catio, whether Do-It-Yourself or hiring a professional.

Be sure to bring materials or a drawing pad for writing down or sketching out your own creative ideas if you wish to build your own catio, large or small. Taking photos is also welcome. Information regarding the contractor that built the original framing of the Catio Lounge and Tea Room will be provided.

Our CatMom is happy to share her story regarding what the circumstances were that led up to her having her catio constructed, and how our Cat Daddy decorated it for the benefit of their beloved cats. She will also describe how she planned the catio and how it became more than a cat sanctuary by celebrating the ritual of having tea for humans to enjoy. That's why we also call it a tea room.

You can learn about tea from the CatMom who has been providing afternoon tea service to her purrsonal friends and loved ones since the catio was constructed in October of 2014. Please consider yourself a friend and always welcome

A small table is provided for your convenience to use for your tea, coffee, or other favorite beverage.

We are not able to accommodate unplanned walk-ins so please give us a call or text us at least 24 hours in advance to arrange a visit.

Monday

Sniff Sniff Chomp Chomp

Bambi was seeking some quiet time with MomCat today.
But, Buddha had different ideas.

Honestly, I don't mind all that terribly.
But it sure is a weird feeling having those fangs scrape my scalp!
So far he has not drawn blood!.

Two Cats First Meeting

Buddha and Timmy got acquainted today through the glass of the patio door.

Notice how they are not looking at each other.

They spent a long time like this.

Then I opened the sliding glass doors a little for them to sniff-sniff.

Then a little more.

They put their paws through the opening to touch each other. They did not growl at all. Just curious cats

Then finally I opened the door the rest of the way.

They made immediate friends and spent about an hour hanging out with each other.

Queen Bambi and Buffy are having nothing to do with the interloper.

Though at least they are only politely ignoring the Buddha as if he didn't exist.

Isn't it hilarious how cats pretend like things just aren't happening?

Deny! Deny! Create your own reality!

Denial is not a river in Egypt, it's a cat!

Friday

Kitty Spider Meal

Hi, Everybody! Meow!
Buffy just ate a spider. Yummy!
She then stuck out her tongue that extra two inches and lapped up the spider web. So funny because she was chewing on it like it was taffy or something.
Must have been very sticky!

Calico Buffy da Bampire Flayer after a Moth

Playful Buffy on the old computer chair trying to catch Mothra! Buffy is a polydactyl
She has extra toes on her paws.

Wednesday

Disaster to Beauty

Cleaning up my disaster of a backyard. Creating some semblance of beauty to accompany the Catio. Just a beginning, of course. But what a pleasure to be able to tackle the much-needed job! The back yard was a mess the whole time the building was going on. But, I guess that's the way it is with construction.

Buddha and his Japanese Bonsai. I really need to paint that rusty shed!
